From its early days as a way station for horse travel between Los Angeles and Pasadena, South Pasadena has grown to be a community highly prized for its role as a quiet enclave surrounded by larger cities. Some think South Pasadena is part of Pasadena, but this small town is its own entity with its own police and fire departments.

Community Life: Despite its small size, South Pasadena has many parks. One of the most known is Eddie Park. Local Attractions: One popular local landmark is the Watering Trough and Wayside Station. It was built in 1906 by architect Norman F. Marsh and designed to impress visitors arriving at the Santa Fe Railway station across the street. The South Pasadena Historical Museum is housed in the former Meridian Iron Works building and shows artifacts and vintage photographs that chronicle the early years of South Pasadena.
