Van Nuys

In the heart of the San Fernando Valley, Van Nuys combines suburban charm with retro flair. It’s been called America’s Suburb for its even layout and traditional appeal.

Real Estate: Van Nuys filled with single family homes on regular lots. There are also many apartments and condominiums available. New homes and developments are being built in the area.  

Community Life:  Van Nuys is the area’s county seat and the Government Center complex contains the city’s Superior Courts and offices for L.A.’s city hall. Van Nuys Boulevard was once famous for the cars cruising in the area during the 1960s and 1970s and that The Leo Magnus Cricket complex is a complex of four cricket fields, which also host exhibitions. The Van Nuys recreation center has a swimming pool, jogging path, basketball courts, tennis courts, and more.

Education: Van Nuys is served by the Los Angeles Unified School District including Sylvan Park Elementary, Hazeltine Avenue Elementary, Bassett Street Elementary, and Van Nuys Senior High School. Private schools include The Crawford Academy, Grace Christian Academy, Children’s Community School, and St. Elisabeth’s.

Transportation: Van Nuys is easily reached by the 170, 101, and 405 Freeways. There are 16 buses that run through the area and the Orange Line has multiple stops in the area. There is also an Amtrak station in Van Nuys. Van Nuys is also home to the busiest general aviation airport in the world.

Local Attractions:  The Japanese Gardens is a 6 ½ acre oasis with a Japanese garden, Zen meditation garden, and a Chinese garden with waterfalls, lakes, stone lanterns and a teahouse. The Valley Municipal Building/Van Nuys City Hall is a landmark Art Deco building built in 1932 that was designed using Los Angeles City Hall as a model.
