Tarzana

Tarzana, CA Real Estate

In it’s earliest beginnings, Tarzana was a part of the San Fernando Mission established in 1797 by Spanish settlers and missionaries. Today it’s a residential community located on the site of a former ranch owned by real estate investor and noteworthy author Edgar Rice Burroughs, whose storybook jungle character hero, Tarzan, inspired the naming of the town itself.

Real Estate.   

The scenery that is associated with Tarzana’s past—rustic, wide open spaces, berry farms, sprawling ranches—helped to set the precedent for the beautiful, ranch-style homes that are frequently encountered today. The town’s real estate landscape consists mainly of single family homes and a handful of condos and townhouses. Properties with large yards, hill and mountain views, and outdoor amenities continue to attract those desiring a home of their own.

Community Life.   

Clustered high up in the foothills of Tarzana is the town’s most coveted and exclusive neighborhoods: Mulholland Park, Silverhawk Ridge and Monte Verde Estates. Elementary and secondary schools within Tarzana are part of LA Unified School District and include Nestle Avenue Charter, Tarzana Elementary, Wilbur Charter for Enriched Academics, Gaspar De Portola Middle School, Diane S. Leichman High School, Granada Hills Charter High School and El Camino Real Charter High School.

Transportation.   

Running directly above the northern top of Tarzana is the 101 Freeway, providing convenient access to some of L.A.’s busiest metropolitan centers along the commercial artery of Ventura Boulevard.  

Local Attractions.

Playing host to specialty shops and eclectic dining options is Ventura Boulevard, the bustling east-west thoroughfare that entices the community with favorites such as Sol Y Luna, The Carving Board, and CiCi’s Cafe for breakfast.
