Santa Clarita

Santa Clarita is the third largest city in Los Angeles County. An exciting mix of open land, new developments, and major business keep this growing area regularly featured on lists of best places to live in the United States.

Real Estate:  Santa Clarita consists mostly of newer homes, many inside larger developments and gated communities. There are several different communities spread out over the area and each has its own developments and subdivisions. Major neighborhoods include Canyon Country, Castaic, Newhall, Saugus, Stevenson Ranch, and Valencia. Many developments include a community center and shared pool.

Community Life: In Santa Clarita, you are never far from great hiking but there are also many foot paths (paseos) and community parks as well as golfing. Santa Clarita has an aquatics center with three pools and there is also an ice skating rink. There are several local farmers markets including the Santa Clarita (VCC) Farmer’s Market held every Sunday from 8:30 am to 12pm at College of the Canyons Valencia campus.

Education: Because of its size, Santa Clarita has six different school districts: Castaic Union School District, Newhall School District, Saugus Union School District, Sulphur Springs school District, Acton/Agua Dulce School District, and William S. Hart High School District. The California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), which has educated so many of the great talents in art and animation is located in Valencia. College of the Canyons has two campus locations in Valencia and Canyon Country.

Transportation: Santa Clarita sits between Interstate 5 and the Antelope Valley Freeway (Highway 14). The city has an extensive public transportation network that includes nine local fixed routes within the Santa Clarita Valley; commuter services between Santa Clarita and downtown Los Angeles, Century City, Westwood, Van Nuys, and Warner Center; as well as express bus routes to the San Fernando Valley and Antelope Valley. The 75 vehicle fleet provides service to four million riders annually.

Local Attractions: Six Flags is a popular amusement park that brings many people to the area for fun and thrilling rides each year. The Saugus Café, which opened in 1887 is believed to be one of the oldest restaurants in Los Angeles County.  The William S. Hart Museum is the former retirement home of the famed silent film actor and director who produced a series of hit Western movies in the early 1900s. Mentryville is a former oil boom town that is now a historic landmark.
